Overview

This guide walks you through the process of creating and retrieving a Personal API Key. These keys are tied to a specific user and provide enhanced security by ensuring that:

• The API key is valid.

• The owner id of the API key associated with the token matches the owner ID of the app.

You can generate a Personal API Key multiple times. However, if an API Key already exists, generating a new one will:

• Invalidate the previous key.

• Keep the same app associated with the new key.

What is a Personal API Key?

A Personal API Key ties an API key to a specific user. When validated, the system checks:

• The validity of the API key

• That the user ID associated with the API token matches the app owner's ID

Create a Personal API Key using the Unique Core UI

Open the Unique app, or the bank branded app that uses Unique.

Click on the Account/User icon in the top right.

Open

Select “Personal API Key”

Open

Generate you Personal API Key

Regenerate you personal API Key
